Persona 3 Portable
Jul 23, Love the hell out of FES. At least the Journey, never got around to the Answer, whenever I try I realize I don’t care to see anything else involving the story. The Journey left it just fine for me. The main complaint for the game is lack of full party control, but if you use your Tactics, more on that in a bit, it’s pretty much a non-issue. I’ve never played the Portable version, the idea of clicking through the world and the story being told visual novel style is a big turnoff. Exploring the city is a huge part of the immersion for me, especially towards the end where there are some changes. The only real downside I guess is not being able to play the female main character path. Oh yeah, and your main character is limited to the type of weapon they can use in P3P, which means they can’t equip Mjolnir, so fuck that. Use the Tactics commands for your teammates. It’s not full control, but good enough and they’ll mostly do what you want.

Despite a good story, production quality and a reasonably innovative and fun combat system, Persona 3 failed to impress me for a number of reasons. What if there were a Dark Hour, a twenty-fifth hour of the day? What if only a few people were conscious during it, and the rest of us turned into coffins for its duration?
What if horrific shadowy creatures preyed upon those unfortunate enough to be conscious during that time? What if you could do something about it? The new dormitory he moves into is actually a secret base for SEES, the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, a group determined to hunt down the Shadows plaguing their city. Better yet, during the Dark Hour his new school transforms into Tartarus, a demonic tower marking the hub of Shadow activity.
Your daytime exploits consist of developing things called Social Links. Each side character you can spend time with has their own Link and set of events you can experience with them. The other normal-world feature is your stat levels of Charm, Courage and Academics which need to be levelled to specific milestones in order to access some of the Social Links.
Female Protagonist (PERSONA 3)
Fantastic news for those of us who thought the original MC wasn’t effeminate enough. Yeah, you slay those demons, you naughty little schoolgirl. The visual novel style works, but isn’t for everyone. Having to spend so much alone time in a small dark room with this guy seems creepier for a girl character. With several critically acclaimed, internationally successful titles like Persona 4, Devil Survivor, and Raidou Kuzunoha vs.
King Abaddon, the brand’s stock has been on the up for some time now.
Jul 15, · That said, the whole dating sim elements only appeared first in Persona 3. Persona 1 and 2 don’t have Social Links and instead have demon negotiation which is similar to the original Shin Megami Tensei series, so the gender of the protagonist isn’t particularly important in : Resolved.
Edit Yukari’s deceased father, Eiichiro Takeba , worked for the Kirijo Group while they were conducting Shadow research. He was opposed to the idea of bringing about the Fall , a stance that caused him to be killed by Mitsuru’s grandfather. These events created most of the problems that SEES is forced to overcome. Yukari’s mother dealt with the pain from the loss of her husband by dating numerous shallow boyfriends and essentially abandoned her daughter, annoying Yukari.
Yukari and her mother even had to move multiple times, just to get away from the backlash of blame and vitriol for Eiichiro being held responsible for the deaths of many Kirijo Group researchers as he was in charge of the research team, even though the details of Eiichiro’s role were not entirely clear and there were all sorts of rumors. Yukari ends up alone, which, coupled with the distress of losing her father, caused her to become quite introverted, which helps her connect with the protagonist because he also knows what it’s like to prematurely lose a parent, making him the only person aside from Fuuka she opens up to.

I wrote this playing the Japanese version of P3P, so I don’t have all of the midterm answers in English. If anyone can provide midterm answers for July , that would help a lot:: No days next to dates, and no locations for social link locations yet. Midterm answers up for English version.

I just… The ending was fitting, but then again. I started that game somewhere… Like in Yeah, Dark is good. So why not, Strong Dark is a great name for a hero, right? I played Persona 3 furiously when I got a copy of my own, for about couple of months. Then came the other games and I just kind of… forgot about it. Then I mostly just forgot about them and never get to finish them.
And then one day I remembered it again and decided to end the game for good. It took me couple of days The ending was longer than I had thought to finish it. I felt so empty. With the game died my hero, Tsuyoi Dark, and many tears were shed. I had lived with him, decided who he should date and mind you, I almost got all the girls! Oh game, why you so realistic?!
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable Review
In order to fight Margaret, the protagonist must go through all challenges. She makes her first appearance alongside Igor, when Yu Narukami fell into his subconscious during his trip to Yasoinaba. Similar to Persona 3, while Igor is responsible for the Persona fusions, Margaret handles the Persona Compendium, which allows the protagonist to keep track of his fused Personas and re-summon them. Apart from handling the Persona Compendium, Margaret also handles the Fusion Forecast service, where she predicts the phenomena of the day and the extra effects that may affect a Persona during fusion.
A quiet, professional woman, Margaret does not talk much to the protagonist until his Knowledge status reaches ‘Expert’.
Product Information. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable moves from the PlayStation 2 to the PSP. In this enhanced remake, you can look forward to a new female protagonist, faster equipment changes, and simpler navigation in menus.
Share on Reddit It was easier for me to walk away from Persona 3 than I expected. The game about nine friends and a dog—which celebrates its tenth anniversary in the States this year—follows a similar arc to most role-playing games. That means the gang of plucky young people ultimately saves the world. Yet its 21st century characters and setting made Persona 3 far more relatable and endearing to me than the high-flying heroes of Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger.
It helps, too, that this was the series’ first game to sport a now-signature blend of dating sim and turn-based dungeon crawling. Playing Persona 3, I felt I was experiencing the first game designed to let me take my time. Whether that meant meeting up with a friend for kendo practice or hanging out with a couple of elderly used booksellers, there was nearly always something more digestible, recognizable, and less world-shatteringly urgent to do than fighting gods and monsters.
It’s the kind of stuff that let me inhabit a game’s world for a bit rather than simply tour through it. By the end of the game, I was nearly as attached to the city of Iwatodai and its inhabitants as I’ve ever been to a real place. The downside is that this made it that much harder to eventually say goodbye to those virtual sights I saw and friends I made along the way. What made that goodbye easier was a special, quiet message before the closing credits—one that reminds me how to accept the end of comfort and friendship even today.

The Phantom Thieves’ approval rating, as evaluated through polls on the Phan-Site, is shown during loading screens and increases with each palace cleared. The Phan-Site is even littered with death threats during this period. When the Phantom Thieves are kicked out of Mementos by the Holy Grail, the merging of the Metaverse and reality causes humanity to believe the Phantom Thieves never existed.
By contrast, getting the Phan-Site poll to this number unlocks Satanael, the Protagonist’s Rage Against the Heavens ultimate persona, with whom you very stylishly dispatch the final boss. And this comes after months of being public enemy number one in the eyes of the public. Earn Your Happy Ending , indeed. None of the guns in the game use the real names, despite clearly being modeled after real world firearms.
The fake names range from a few letters being changed like the Franchi SPAS becoming the “Bianchi SBAS”, to well-known nicknames like the Colt SAA becoming the “Peacemaker”, to generic, non-descript names like the Ithaca 37 becoming just “Heavy Shotgun”, to names that sound cool but would almost certainly not be used for real gun names, like the M A1 becoming “Governance”. Acceptable Breaks from Reality: In real life, this is done after exercising to provide needed amino acids to muscles as they recover, but doing so in the game would confuse the players as the Protein consumables also serve as regular HP recovering items in the Metaverse.
Alice’s unique “Die For Me! A single Shadow on the field can transform into 2 to 6 enemies when you engage them in battle. One of the big themes of the game is that the Phantom Thieves formed due its members losing faith in adults, most of whom are at worst abusive, greedy and cruel, or at best, just plain apathetic. At the end of the game, Sae promises to make good and damn sure to defy the trope.
This also christens the protagonist’s name to be ‘Yu Narukami’, which will be used throughout appearances like Persona 4: Cross Tag Battle Persona 4: A Compilation Movie Compressed Adaptation of the anime series. New features include an additional female protagonist as well as certain gameplay adjustments introduced in Persona 4. And P4 battle system is always nice. Impossible not fall in love with FeMC. With their help, SEES is able to explore Tartarus further and defeat Greater Shadows that appear every full moon, believing that by killing all twelve of them, they will be able to end the appearance of the Dark Hour. However, SEES learns they have been misled; by destroying the Greater Shadows, they have freed parts of a being called Nyx who will bring about the end of the world if it is fully restored.
It is revealed that the Kirijo Corporation was attempting to do this ten years ago, but Nyx was released prematurely in a laboratory accident that also created the Dark Hour and Tartarus. Aigis, a robot designed to fight Nyx, battled the being but was unable to fully defeat it, instead dispersing parts of it into the Greater Shadows, and installing the last part into that of a young boy nearby, revealed to be the Main Character. SEES encounters Ryoji, a teenage boy who tells him he is Death incarnate and that if they do not kill him by December 31, he will unwillingly usher in Nyx and the end of the world.
The player is given the option to kill Ryoji at this point; if taken, the game explains that members of SEES lose memories of the last year, and show them leading normal lives until inevitably the end of the world occurs. Though they defeat it, the avatar is able to still call forth Nyx; the moon splits open revealing a strange device that begins to kill people across the Earth. The world returns to normal, though the memories of the past year are lost to the SEES members.
As they finish school, they come to realize that they each promised to gather on the school’s roof should they make it to graduation day. The game takes place over the course of a Japanese school year. Each day goes by broken up into several periods such as “Morning”, “Afternoon” and “Evening”, with the Main Character going to school and then participating in selected activities during free time. The player may opt to use the free time activities to buy equipment and items at stores, talk to other non-playable characters, or spend the remainder of the free time either to build a Social Link or to improve the Main Character’s attributes, such as by gaining courage by singing karaoke.
Thus, the player must manage which activities or Social Links to improve in order to build up the Main Character for the exploration of the Tartarus.
